Job Description and Qualifications:
Must have recent experience in original and complex copy cataloging. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
Under the direction of the Supervising Cataloger, the successful candidate will perform both original and complex copy cataloging of toy trade catalogs using Anglo-American cataloging rules, MARC format, Library of Congress classification and subject headings, and authority control maintenance procedures using OCLC Connexion, resolve cataloging problems, and create and maintain authority records according to national standards. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; perform duties in a professional manner; work independently and in a team; exercise sound judgment; work well under pressure; prioritize workload; and manage several tasks simultaneously.
Must submit to and pass a drug screen and a criminal background check as a condition of employment. We are a smoke-free building and smoking is not allowed on museum property.

Library Assistant – Recorded Sound and Moving Image Materials, New York Public Library

Cullman Center houses the world’s most extensive combination of circulating and non-circulating reference and research materials on music, dance, theatre, recorded sound, and other performing arts.We are searching for a Library Assistant to join the Recorded Sound and Moving Image Materials department.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Playback Unit’s supervising Library Technical Assistant III, operates the playback console, playback devices, and supporting equipment. Ensures that all items requested are handled properly and accounted for at the end of the day. Performs minor adjustment and cleaning of playback devices and repairs headphones and accessories. Retrieves and reshelves media materials. Performs shelf reading, stack maintenance, and special projects. Trouble shoots and assists with the handling of user complaints. Performs related duties as required.
Required Experience
Successful completion of two years of college and successfully demonstrated work experience with moving image and recorded sound equipment and collections, including industrial audio and video equipment and processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successfully demonstrated experience working with the public in high-pressure situations. Successfully demonstrated ability to perform work independently with speed and accuracy in an automated environment. Successfully demonstrated reliability and accuracy.
