Under supervision of the Assistant Manager of Digital Imaging and Photography Services, produces high-quality digital images & photographic reproductions of library materials; operates digital & analog cameras, film scanners, document scanners, photocopiers. Applies digital image processing techniques to adjust tone/color/scale, and to otherwise reformat digital images. Handles irreplaceable rare books, documents/other objects. Undertakes special projects as directed. Handles library materials (including irreplaceable art objects and rare books) according to established guidelines. Uses image processing software to correct/enhance digital images. Performs quality control reviews. Prepares/edits/reviews structural metadata for collections of digital objects. Transfers files over network for deposit in digital repository. Organizes/cleans studio workspaces. Setting up camera/lighting equipment and positioning original material involves lifting up to 40 lbs, reaching/bending/carrying; work involves standing for extended periods/working from ladder; high volume projects require repetitive actions. NOTE: 24 month Term position; 20 hrs/week; M-F, 5:30-9:30 PM. Initial 3-6 month training will be 9AM-1PM, or 1PM-5PMBasic Qualifications: HS diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of professional exp in photography/digital imaging/or other graphic arts field required; Comfort/facility working w/computers/software app; Exp working w/digital images; Exp w/Macintosh/ Windows; Adobe Photoshop, Excel, Word; Strict attention to detail required. Additional Requirements: Bachelors degree in photography or related field preferred; Exp working in library/museum environment pref; Exp w/digital and film cameras; Solid understanding of basic photographic principles; Sensitive to strict handling requirements for rare/delicate materials; Must be organized/disciplined/highly productive; Ability to initiate/adapt to change, to analyze/solve problems, and to be flexible/work collaboratively.
