Media Librarian
Full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Victoria College/University of Houston-Victoria Library, primarily responsible for managing the operations of the Library’s Media Center.

The Media Librarian evaluates multimedia materials for acquisition, manages licensing negotiations for media acquisitions, supervises a public service desk with two full-time support staff plus student assistants, and promotes multimedia use to support classroom teaching. The Media Librarian will be expected to investigate new opportunities for using digital media technologies and network delivery protocols to provide local and distant access to media resources and collections. Duties include reference desk service (including nights and weekends) shared with eight other librarians.

Master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association; strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong service orientation. Prefer knowledge of audiovisual and multimedia resources and services; technical skills (computer and database searching; use of multimedia and audiovisual equipment); and provision of multimedia services to off-campus teaching sites.

Continuations Librarian
The Ingalls Library of the Cleveland Museum of Art invites applications from motivated and innovative librarians to provide leadership and expertise for print serials, auction catalogs, electronic resources and related activities.
= The Continuations Librarian manages a department comprised of two para-professional staff and reports to the Associate Librarian for Technical Services. The department is responsible for the selection, acquisition, licensing, processing, access and ongoing maintenance of print serials, auction catalogs and electronic resources.
= The Continuations Librarian reviews vendor performance, oversees the annual budget and ensures the quality of continuations control records in the integrated library system (Aleph).
= The position evaluates binding/preservation needs and plans for future storage and facility needs for continuations and auction catalogs.
= The position is a member of the library senior staff and provides reference service related to continuations and electronic resources as needed.

The Ingalls Library is a nationally recognized art reference library (including image library and museum archives). Founded in 1916, the library contains approximately 333,000 titles, including journals, 87,000 auction catalogues, and 22,000 clipping files. The image library contains approximately 285,000 digital images, and 6,000,000 photographs of works of art and architecture, including individual photographs and microfiche.

Qualifications
= Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program;
= minimum of two to three years related experience and/or training, preferably in a research library, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
= prior knowledge of acquisitions practices, including copyright, intellectual property and licensing terms/issues in a networked environment;
= knowledge of link resolver software, electronic resource management, and integrated library systems;
= working knowledge of at least one European language, preferably Italian, French, German or Dutch;
= demonstrated skills in management, supervision and training;
= strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
= flexibility and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment.

Desirable Qualifications:
= Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in art history;
= project management experience;
= policy development.

Responsibilities:

Contemporary art museum on the campus of the University of Chicago seeks individual to digitize still images, video, and audio for archiving and web purposes.  Must be skilled with softwares:  FCP studio, CS3, Microsoft Excel and Word.  Individual will also be responsible for general museum IT troubleshooting and help with videotaping exhibition-related events.  Candidates should be extremely organized, self-motivated, and pay close attention to detail.  An interest in and knowledge of contemporary art are required.

Qualifications:

•         Experience with technology, especially video cameras, scanners, and sound equipment.

•         Soft ware: FCP Studio, CS3, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel and Word.

•         High level of interest in visual art.

•         Self-motivated and organized, attention to detail.

•         Knowledge of studio art and/or art history and/or contemporary chamber music.
