METADATA LIBRARIAN Massachusetts Institute of Technology Req Number: mit-00005962 METADATA LIBRARIAN, MIT Libraries-Metadata Services Unit, to be responsible for original and complex copy cataloging of monographic materials in all formats, creating and maintaining authority records, and creating metadata for digital projects. Will serve as a resource for staff performing copy cataloging and assist unit manager with training, workflow redesign, and project management; work with metadata specialist who leads the unit and collaborate with library staff engaged in metadata creation; direct students and supervise the work of staff as needed; keep current with emerging standards; and participate in committees and on projects within the MIT Libraries and beyond. | The Temple University Libraries have re-opened their search to fill the new position of Digital Projects Librarian. The librarian will be based in Paley Library, the flagship of Temple’s federated library system, which serves a vibrant, urban research university with over 1,700 full-time faculty and a student body of 36,000 that was recently ranked most diverse in the nation. Under the direction of the Head of Digital Library Initiatives, the Digital Projects Librarian will explore, adapt, recommend, implement, and support existing and emerging applications for the Libraries’ digital projects, including those to preserve and improve access to the Libraries and to their archival collections in all formats (text, image, audio, video) and for digital repository projects. S/he will: The individual will participate in library-wide committees, projects, and activities and assume other responsibilities as needed.
