The George Mason University Libraries seeks an Art & Visual Technology Liaison Librarian based in Fenwick Library on the Fairfax campus. This position will be responsible for liaison services (reference and research services, collection development, library instruction, information management of sources in all formats, outreach and integration) for the Department of Art and Visual Technology, the Art History program, and the Arts Management program. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the libraries’ liaison to the University’s undergraduate Honors program. Provides general reference desk service including evening and weekend rotations. Position reports to the Head, Reference Department, Fenwick Library.

Qualifications–
Required and Preferred:
= ALA-accredited MLS or ALA-recognized foreign equivalent;
= undergraduate and/or graduate degree in subject field(s) relevant to the position;
= 3+ to 4+ years of professional-level academic library experience, including reference, instruction, and collections work;
= experience in developing working partnerships with academic departments;
= experience developing and assessing service initiatives;
= wide exposure to relevant databases, collections, and publishers/vendors;
= knowledge of the scholarly communication issues facing academic libraries and the arts and/or humanities;
= understanding of the information needs of researchers in the arts/humanities;
= experience working with image/data collections;
= demonstrated ability to use technology for improved library services;
= excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
= ability to work effectively with diverse academic groups and a demonstrated commitment to responsive and quality library services.

Appointment/Benefits: This is a 12-month professional faculty appointment in the $50,000-$60,000 salary range, depending on qualifications and experience.
