SOCIAL SCIENCE/HUMANITIES RESEARCH ASSOCIATE III The University of Texas at Austin Blanton Museum of Art FLSA status Exempt Purpose of position: To plan, advise and provide a range of engaging public programs connecting art and ideas for the audiences of the Blanton Museum of Art based on research and expertise in the field of museum education. Essential functions: Conceive and implement public program offerings for adult audiences at the Blanton, including lectures, courses, symposia, studio programs, performances, social gatherings and community networking events. Analyze past history and current trends in museum education programming while developing new ideas and initiatives to expand audiences and enhance learning. Manage branded programs such as B Scene monthly art parties, Third Thursdays, Artistic License, Art Fix, and the Blanton Book Club; analyze and interpret results of programming to make recommendations for improvement and modification. Keep informed on current information and research concerning best practices in museum education, lifelong learning issues, and current public programming. Recommend new programs as appropriate, ensuring all programs support and deliver the Blanton brand promise of extraordinary experiences connecting the visitor to art and ideas. Represent the Blanton with relevant organizations and reach out to establish new connections and create strategic partnerships for ongoing fulfillment of mission to be a gateway to the community. Represent the museum at state and national conferences. Analyze data to determine prospective users and audiences and potential funding sources for programming and partnerships. Work closely with other departments and collaboratively consults on development of relevant programs for special exhibitions, maximizing impact, ensure smooth logistical operations- that they are scheduled and information provided in a timely manner. Develop budgets for each program and track expenditures to ensure budgets are adhered to. Coordinate travel plans and logistics for guest speakers and performers.
