Marketing & Special Events Director – Kent Memorial Library, Kent

Marketing & Special Events Director – Kent Memorial Library in Kent seeks an individual to 1) develop programs for adults that meet the Library’s mission and service responses; 2) market overall library services; and 3) oversee art exhibits. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential as is knowledge of the basic principles of marketing and promotion of programs and events. Creative thinking is vital along with a warm welcoming attitude. Computer literacy required; desktop publishing and familiarity with modern communication methods such as Facebook and blogs a plus. Bachelor’s degree required with marketing, PR, advertising, journalism or communications preferred; some public library and/or non-profit experience preferred; demonstrated experience in producing news releases, newsletters, flyers, annual reports and programs. Ability to work under short time constraints and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities & with minimal supervision essential. Sixteen (16) regularly scheduled hrs/wk including some weekends with additional hours as needed for programs. Salary commensurate with experience. Applicants will be required to bring a sample news release, poster, program proposal and art brochure based on specific criteria to the interview.
