Can we do something with the formatting of the YouTube clip at the top? On my monitor, viewed in Firefox, it’s too big, and obscures some of the rest of the page. I just don’t know how those things work, exactly. :)

Thanks for letting us know. I’ll look into it tonight. I use firefox too–though I haven’t had a problem. I do have issues when resizing the window in both Firefox & IE. I think it might be a CSS positioning thing.

    Anyway, I’ll play tonight :-)

    OK,

The easy route would be to resize the video. WordPress doesn’t allow me to add the correct HTML to resize it (they strip the HTML out when saved). So, as far as I can tell, we’re not able to resize the video (How systems-centric is that! The trade off of being hosted for free?)

Anyway, the much more complicated route would be to pay for access to the CSS code & play around with the positioning. Hmm…Maybe.

If your eyes haven’t glossed over by this time waiting for the point, the point is it will not be fixed in the immediate future.

However, if you would like to see the page properly in all its glory, try changing your screen resolution to 1024 x 768. Using Firefox last night, I found that the reason that it looked fine on my screen was because I was at the 1024 x 768 resolution. My assumption is that RCooper’s res is at 800 x 600 (the actual Web standard, which makes it all the more aggravating that I can’t easily change the size of the video).

    OK. So, to recap…

    -Video resizing is out
-CSS reformatting is a possibility in the future
-The quickest way to view our site properly is to use the screen resolution of 1024 x 768

    Thanks,
    Bryan

We can change the CSS formatting for the site now, but this video is formatted with xhtml, which we can’t change. I can’t seem to override it with CSS either. How does the video look at the bottom? Still visible, and still a good size for viewing.

    Good workaround :) )

Although, there are still funky things going on viewed at 800×600.

This wouldn’t nec. pertain to this site, but I’ve read that some designers use a bit of code (prob. java) to figure out the user’s screen resolution. The designers make two sites that accommodate whichever resolution they have. The code relays the information in an if-then statement and auto-directs the user to the proper site.

It’s much less aggrevating at the bottom of the screen, since it’s not the first thing you see. So, I’m happy with that, until the technology gods provide us with either (a) unlimited funding, or (b) resizable whatchamathingies.

    Hello,

The feed from the ArtNewsBlog seems to retrieve only an XML file, not an actual blog or webpage. I was just wondering if it’s supposed to be like that? Thanks!

You’re right–that’s not how it’s supposed to be. I updated the address and it seems to work now. Thanks!

I would like to recommend that the ArLiSNAP blog should list the Special Interest Group Co-moderator contact information. This information could be listed on either the first homepage of the website, or on the “Aboutness” tab.

Sarah et al., contact info is now up on the left-hand side of our site. Thanks!
